OLD HAT (THE). AKA and see "Lynchburg Town." American, Song/Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). "Old Hat" was recorded in 1927 by the Mississippi group The Leake County Revelers, featuring the fiddling of Will Gilmer (Leake County is in central Mississippi, northeast of Jackson). It has a variant lyric to "Lynchburg Town," although 'Vicksburg' is substituted for 'Lynchburg' in the chorus.
