Sheet Music for "Old Plantation Girls"Old Plantation Girls

OLD PLANTATION GIRLS. American, Slip Jig (9/8 time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Identified by 18th century Glasgow publisher James Aird as "Virginian" [1] (see also Aird's "Sam Jones" and "Pompey ran Away" for other of Aird's "Virginian" tunes). There is nothing particularly American in the melody's character, however, and probably has a British or Irish provenance.
