OLD SOLLY'S FAVORITE. American, Reel (2/4 or cut time). D Major. AEad tuning (fiddle). AA'BB. The tune was in the repertoire of Artley, Shock, Calhoun County, West Virginia fiddler Emory Bailey, and may refer to legendary West Virginia fiddler Solly Carpenter (see notes for "Camp Chase"). One of the few tunes played with the fiddle in AEad tuning, along with "Silver Lake (6)" and "Old Sledge." Bailey was recorded inthe field by Malvin Artley in 1953.
