OLD TIME STRAIGHT JIG. American, "Straight Jig" (2/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A 'straight jig' was a type of duple-time syncopated clog tune popular in the latter 19th century, also called a 'sand jig', particularly used as an accompaniment to stage clog or hornpipe dancing. The first strain is shared with "Saratoga Hornpipe (3)," "Kitty O'Neill (3)," "Snapping Jig," and "Away Back."
