PADDY O’BRIEN’S (HORNPIPE) [2]. AKA - "O'Brien's Hornpipe." AKA and see "Fallon's Hornpipe," "McMahon's Hornpipe (1)," "P.J. Maloney's Hornpipe," "Seán Ryan's Favourite (2)," "Seán Ryan's Hornpipe (3)." Irish, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB’. No relation to "Paddy O'Brien's Hornpipe (1)." Luke O'Malley, in his 1976 collection of tunes, attributed the composition to Paddy O'Brien, however it is a composition of Co. Tipperary musician Seán Ryan^[1]. O'Malley's identification of "Hills of Tipperary (2) (The)" is also erroneous; while there are several similarities between the two tunes, O'Brien's "Hills of Tipperary [2]" is considered a separate and distinct composition.
