PETE BRADLEY’S SLIDE. AKA and see "Danny O'Shea's Slide," "Jazzing with Meaig Leary," "Kiely Cotter's," "Maidhc Dainnín Ó Sé's Slide," "Paddy Glackin's," "Paddy Jerry's." Irish, Slide. Ireland, Sliabh Luachra region of the Cork-Kerry border. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Pete Bradley lived up the hill from Knocknagree on the Kerry side of the border, and is remembered for his scathing comments regarding other musicians to the extent he earned the nickname ‘The Critic’ (though Paul de Grae notes he could also be kind and complimentary). Ironically, notes de Grae, he claimed to detest slides and polkas (“and would fall on visiting musicians like long-lost kin if they played a few fast reels”) though the tunes to which his name is attached are of the genres.
