PIGEON ON THE GATE [3]. AKA and see "Cameronian Reel (1) (The)." Scottish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune, which has been called "a pipe reel", was first recorded on Cape Breton by musicians Alex Gillis and the Inverness Serenaders. However, as Conor Ward points out, the tune is none other than the Irish "Cameronian Reel (1) (The)," versions of which predate Honeyman's collection. In the absence of any earlier Scottish appearance as "Pigeon...", Honeyman's title is perhaps a rare mistake.
