PIN HER AGAINST THE GATE. AKA and see "Jenny Got a Clinking," "Lovely Lassie Winking (The)," "Reel (72)," "Rickey's Rambles," "Sméideadh na Meidhre Maisí." Irish, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune is from vol. II (No. 12) of the Cole manuscript of Leinster, transcribed by Maggie Reynolds around the year 1930. The title is similar to "Pen the Maid against the Gate," a reel from County Mayo fiddler and farmer Philip Carolan's c. 1863-73 music manuscript collection, but the tunes are musically unrelated.
