PRIDE OF THE NORTH HORNPIPE, THE. English, Hornpipe (whole time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "The Pride of the North" is the name of a tune in the Northumbrian Pipers' Society publication "The Fiddle Music of James Hill." It may be that early 19th century Gateshead fiddler-composer Hill (known for his hornpipe compositions) is the composer of the tune. A version was included in the large c. 1850 music manuscript collection of Manchester, England, musician biography:John Roose as an untitled hornpipe (No. 1018).
