PUSH ABOUT THE JORUM [2] (Cuir tart an deorum). AKA and see "King of Meenasillagh (The)." Irish, Reel (cut time). D Major ('A' part) & A Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (O'Neill/1850 & 1001): AABB' (O'Neill/Krassen). The group Altan recorded a related version of the first strain of the reel as "King of Meenasillagh (The)" (Rí Mín na Sailleachon) their album "Another Sky" (2000), learned from Donegal fiddler James Byrne. See also the related first strain of "Captain O'Neill" and “O'Rourke's." The first strain of "Push about the Jorum [2]" is similar to the first strain of the country dance reel "Britannia's Promise" AKA "Trip to Gallaway," printed in England in the mid- and latter 18th century.
