QUADRILLE CHAMPION 4EME PARTIE. French-Canadian, Reel or Quadrille (cut or 2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. All six parts of the "The Champion Quadrille" were recorded by Montreal fiddler Isidore Soucy (1899-1962) in October, 1927, although not commercially released until January of the next year. The first strain is a variant of this fourth Quadrille part is well-known in America as "Flop Eared Mule (1)." Soucy researcher Jean Duval identifies the second strain as derived from another American contra-dance standard "Steamboat Hornpipe (1)"[1].
