QUADRILLE DES SEIGNEURS 1ÈRE PARTIE (Quadrille of the Lords, Part 1). AKA and see "Haste to the Wedding (1)." French-Canadian, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Quadrille des seigneurs" is a five-part quadrille set recorded by Montreal fiddler Joseph Ovila LaMadeleine (1880-1973) in 1929. LaMadeleine was a prolific recording artist in the 78 RPM era, sometimes accompanied on his recordings by his son, Marcel, on guitar. Another son, Albert, also occasionally played the violin with his father. The quadrille set was made up of familiar melodies: "Haste to the Wedding" (part 1), "Mississippi Sawyer/Downfall of Paris" (part 5), "St. Lawrence Jig" (part 4), although almost all are rhythmically and melodically altered from the original, irregular or 'crooked', although still quite recognizable.
