RÉVEIL DES OISEAUX, LE (The Birds' Awakening). French-Canadian, Reel or polka (2/4 time). A Major ('A' part) & C Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Le réveil des oiseaux" was recorded by Fortunat Malouin in 1928, with the same title and music that appears in J.A. Boucher's Le Repertoire du Violoneux (1933). Researcher Jean Duval believes the tune may have been composed by Malouin, but points out there were several 19th century pieces (musically unrelated) with the same title. The tune is not the same as Boucher's "Réveil de Lili (Le)", which is sometimes called "Réveil des oiseaux", notes Duval.
