RAMAH DROOG. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Ramah Droog; or, Wind Does Wonders was the name of a three-act comic opera by James Cobb (1756-1818), with a libretto with an east Indian theme by the East India Company civil servant James Cobb. It was first performed in 1798 at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden. The music was composed by Joseph Mazzinghi (1765-1844), an English composer of Corsican origins who had studied with J. C. Bach. At the age of 19, Mazzinghi was appointed musical director of the King's Theatre, London, for which he produced an enormous output of stage works, although with no lasting legacy.
