REEL BOULE DE NEIGE [2] (Snowball Reel). AKA and see "Gigue du poteau blanc," "Poteau blanc (Le)," "White Post (The)." French-Canadian, Reel (cut and 3/2 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. Montreal fiddler Joseph Allard recorded the tune in September, 1928, as "Gigue du poteau blanc" (White Post Jig), the same month that Soucy recorded his version, "Boule de beige [2]." Soucy researcher Jean Duval thinks that Soucy was unaware of Allard's recorded and came to it independently. He points out Soucy's version "is almost perfectly pentametric"[1].
