REEL DE BERLUCHON. French-Canadian, Reel (cut or 2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. Soucy researcher Jean Duval finds that this tune is Soucy's reworking of an old Scottish and Irish melody in 6/8, known as "<incipit title="load:kings" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/King's Jig (2)">King's Jig (2)</incipit>" (in four parts), "<incipit title="load:spens" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Mrs. Spens Monroe">Mrs. Spens Monroe</incipit>" and "<incipit title="load:mrs." width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Mrs. Monroe’s (1)">Mrs. Monroe’s (1)</incipit>," and other titles. Joseph Allard recorded a 6/8 version of the tune in 1931, notes Duval, under the title "Reel du commerce," and Soucy himself re-recored the tune (in a slightly altered version) for Starr Records as "Reel à Francis."
