REEL DE L'ABITIBI. French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Some resemblance to Soucy's "Gigue écossaise." Abitibi County is a historical county in the southwest of the Province of Quebec, now merged as Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Abitibi is also the name of a lake and a river in northern Ontario, derived from the Algonquin words abitah, meaning middle, and nipi meaning water.
