Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The reel is well-known in the repertory of Quebec, having been recorded a number of times by fiddlers from the province beginning in the 1920's (sometimes with an added third strain). Researcher Jean Duval finds versions from Willie Ringuette as "Ronfleuse Gobeil" (1927), J.O. La Madeleine as "Quadrille de Matane Figure 2" (1928), Isidore Soucy as "Gigue des vieux souliers (1929), as well as from Jos Bouchard as "Reel St-Siméon" (1941).
