REEL DU BOURREAU. French-Canadian, Reel (mixed rhythm). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDDEE'FF'. Soucy researcher Jean Duval finds the tune to be a version of "Reel du pendu" (Hangman's Reel), set in 'G' to accommodate the accordion and with the similar title "Reel du bourreau" (Executioner's Reel). It was recorded in Montreal in 1930 by fiddler Isidore Soucy (1899-1963) and his long-time recording partner, accordion player Donat Lafleur (1892-1973).
