Ethnomusicologist Jean Duval finds similar melodic material to the second strain of Antonio Gauthier's "Reel du Marié" in the first strains of the Irish reels "Dillon Brown" and "Mountain Top (The)," as well as in second strain of Joseph Allard's "Reel du Cheval noir" (Black Horse Reel).
