REEL DU PLAISIR (Reel of Pleasure). French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). E Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The reel is what Prof. Samuel Bayard called a "composite melody", consisting of a distanced form of the fourth strain of "Lord MacDonald (4)" paired with the second strain of "Belle Catherine (3) (La)." It was recorded in Montreal in March, 1936, by fiddler Isidore Soucy, and we might surmise from the title he enjoyed playing it.
