ROB ROY MACGREGOR (Rob Ruadh Macghriogair). Scottish, Slow Strathspey (whole time). E Minor or E Minor ('A' and 'C' parts) & G Major ('B' and 'D' parts). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABCD (Fraser): AABB'CCD (Athole). John Purser calls this tune "a classic traditional strathspey reel." See note for "Lady's Expostulation with Rob Roy" for a brief discussion of the Jacobite Scottish outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor (1671-1734).
