ROBIE DONUA GORACH {or "Robi Donadh Gorrach," "Robaidh dona gorach"} (Daft Robin). AKA and see "Daft Robin," "Johnny Armstrong," "Todlin Hame (1)," "Wagoner's Lad (The)," "Bacach," "Drunken Hiccups (1)," "Rye Whiskey (1)," "Jack of Diamonds (3)," "Clinch Mountain," "Cuckoo (5) (The)." Scottish, Slow Air (4/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDDEEFF. "An Old Highland Song" (as noted in Gow's collection) set by Nathaniel Gow (1763-1831), though published under his father Niel's name. Johnson (1984) says the title translates literally as "Silly Naughty Robbie."

Bruce Olson adds the following tunes to the "Robie donua gorach" tune family: "Armstrong's Farewell" "Earl Douglas's Lament," "Lude's Lament," "My Name is Dick Kelly," "Drunk at Night and Dry i' the Morning (1)," "Lame Yellow Beggar (The)," and "Bacah."
