ROBINSON'S HORNPIPE [2]. English, American; Hornpipe (whole or cut time). E Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Robinson's Hornpipe" was in the 1821 music manuscript collection of fiddler John Burks, who probably was from England. The tune appears in the music manuscript collection of William Sidney Mount, a native of Setauket, Long Island, and painter of renown and a skilled amateur fiddler. Mount may have had in mind his fiddler friend, Robinson, who played the tune, which is a version of "Banks Hornpipe (1)."
