Stanford/Petrie (1902) notes: “The original air of the ‘Boys of Kilkenny.’” A version of the air, originally from the John Edward Pigot (1822–1871) mss., was entered into the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of Canon James Goodman (County Cork).
