SALLY KELLY [2]. AKA and see "Humors of Flip (The)," "Geehan's Reel," "Grazier (The)," "Green Garters (2)," "Kiss the Maid Behind the Barrel," "Maid Behind the Bar (2) (The)," "Mallon's Reel," "Potlick (The)." "Trim the Velvet." Irish, Reel (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Sally Kelly" is a County Leitrim name for “Trim the Velvet,” noted Brendan Breathnach, who was probably referencing the tune "Sally Kelly" contained in Book 2 of the c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim piper and fiddler biography:Stephen Grier. The tune is cognate in the first stain, but not identical. Grier also entered another reel in this first strain tune family in his collection, "Mallon's Reel" (Grier No. 220). James Goodman's "Drummond Lasses (The)" is possibly related in the first strain (although "Sally Kelly (3)" is a much closer match).
