This "Sally put the Kettle on" is from the playing of Franklin County, north-central Kentucky fiddler biography:Kelly Gilbert, who was recorded in the field in 1978 by John Harrod. The tune is barely recognizable as a member of the "Jenny/Molly/Polly put the Kettle on (2)" tune family, but so distanced that, without the title to aid in identification, it's derivation would not be recognized, so distanced is it from the original if, in fact, there was an ancestor. It may be that it is an entirely different tune, and acquired the "Sally put the Kettle on" title because of some vague similarity, primarily in the last two measures of the first strain of this quadrille-type (i.e. each part in a different key) tune.
