SCENES FROM THE FINLAND WOODS. Canadian, Waltz (3/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Messer): AABB’ (Perlman). The tune was recorded by the piano player for Don Messer & His Islanders, Waldo "Thumbs" Munro (1930-2006), who played with the group from 1951 to 1973. Garnet Rogers has described him as "the guy who had pretty much defined a whole style of music back in the day, with perfect rhythm and great big moving bass chords, and a lightning right hand."
