SCOTS BONNET. AKA and see "Blue Bonnets over the Border (2)," "Down among the Banks of Roses." Scottish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of the tune in print in Robert Bremner's 1757 collection (p. 28). The song air "Down among the Banks of Roses" is an adaptation of the first strain of the reel.
