"Scots Guards Farewell to South Africa 1902" was composed by William Ross of the Scots Guards (2nd Battalion). Paul Stewart Cranford notes that it was one of his earlier compositions when he was a Pipe Sergeant, prior to his promotion to Pipe Major. The tune commemorates the regiment's disembarkation at the conclusion of the wikipedia:Boer_War (1899-1902).
