SCOTSMAN.  English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Scotsman" is contained in the 1823 music manuscript collection of musician Richard Hughes of Whitchurch, Shropshire.  Hughes' two parts compare with the first two parts of flute player William Killey's unnamed "Cotillion (27)", a more elaborate version of the melody.  The first part of Hughes' tune is nearly identical, while the second strain is more distanced but still cognate.
