SHAW'S REEL. AKA and see “Bashful Bachelor (2) (The),” “Obelisk Hornpipe,” “Where Did You Find Her? (2)” "Wily Old Bachelor (The)" American, Reel (2/4 time). USA; New England, Nebraska. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was in the repertoire of Nebraska radio fiddler Bob Walters, although probably learned from the Boston-published Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883) and not from tradition. The first strain is a "floating" one, however, and appears in a number of hornpipes, paired with divergent or unrelated second strains (see for example "Hornpipe (52)" from County Leitrim musician biography:Stephen Grier's c. 1883 collection.
