SHE'S A DEAR MAID TO ME. AKA - "Is cailm muirneac domsa i." Irish, Slow Air (3/4 time). D Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. See also P.W. Joyce's "She's the Dear Maid to Me," an almost identical title but a musically different tune. Joyce included some remarks on the background of the air and gives one verse, which also would fit O'Neill's tune. However, Fr. John Quinn finds an untitled air in George Petrie's collection that is a close variant to O'Neill's "She's a dear maid to me." Unfortunately, there is no note indicating where or when Petrie obtained the tune.
