SHE COMES FROM THE LAKE. Irish, Air (3/8 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The melody appears to be unique to Irish-born flute player biography:John Clinton's volume Gems of Ireland: 200 Airs, printed in London in 1841. Clinton (1810-1864) was a teacher at the Royal Conservatory, London, a principal flute at Her Majesty’s Theatre for at least one season (1847 and a member of the Philharmonic Society. He was a well-regarded teacher and composer by his contemporaries, although not of lasting fame. Clinton also sought to improve the instrument.
