SIR ARCHIBALD DUNBAR BART. OF NORTHFIELD'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "SIr Archibald Dunbar Bart. of Northfield's Strathspey" is one of a few melodies attributed to "a Lady" in Elgin composer, fiddler and music teacher James Taylor in his first collection of music (c. 1835). Many of the tunes contained in it were either composed by Archibald or were named for his associates, family and holdings, and the volume itself was dedicated by Taylor to Lady Dunbar of Northfield. It seems likely that the unnamed "Lady" composer was either Lady Dunbar or one of the couples daughters (who were perhaps pupils of Taylor's).
