Scott Skinner, appearing in both his Scottish Violinist (1900) and Harp and Claymore (1904) collections. It commemorates the Scottish hero William Wallace (b. 1270), who led a strong revolt against the English but was finally defeated at the Battle of Falkirk in 1298 by the forces of Edward I. The air is a companion piece to Skinner's marching air "King Robert the Bruce."
