SKIP ROPE [2]. American, Clog (whole time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Elias Howe credits the composition to "M. Hobbs," whose name appears on a few compositions in Howe's later Musician's Omnibus collections. Michael Hobbs was a musician in Boston, Massachusetts, whose place of business was the same address as the Elias Howe firm, but what his connection was with Howe is not known. He may have been an employee, or Howe may have acted as an agent for Hobbs in some capacity. See also note for "annotation:Skip Rope (1)."
