SLÁN AGUS BEANNACHT LE BUAIDHREAMH AN TSAOGHAIL [1]. AKA and see "Farewell to the Troubles of the World," "Farewell to My Troubles." Irish, Jig (“gaily, but not so fast as jig time”). D Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The title is a recurrent phrase of several songs to the air. Bayard believes the duple-time "O'Connell's Welcome To Parliament (1)" to be a major mode version or derivative of this tune. Sean O Boyle (1976) notes the words to the tune were composed with lines and half-lines alternating in English and Irish, and believes this reflects the bilingual period in the historical process of the supplanting of the Gaelic language in Ireland by English.
