SLIP JIG [11]. Scottish (?), Slip Jig (9/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Slip Jig [11]" is cognate with "Irish Frolic (The)" and "Up with Aily (2)" in the first strain and harmonically very similar in the second strain. The tune forms the fourth figure of Montrose and Aberdeen dancing master and musician biography:Archibald Duff's "Pas Seul (11)", a series of tunes that seem to have been grouped together to form a choreographed dance sequence (pas seul = 'solo dance'), perhaps for one of his pupils, named in the title: "Miss Helen Hadden".
