G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears under this title (a variant of a Northumbrian title “Stannerton Hopping”) in the c. 1812 music manuscript of John Bell (1783-1864). In parts of England a ‘hopping’ refers to the harvesting of hops.
