"Statia Donnelly's" is sourced to fiddler Jimmy Power, originally from Kill in Waterford, although he spent many years in London. Staesia Donnelly was his aunt. The jig is a version of an older air called in Irish Gaelic “An Páistín Fionn” (The Fairhaired Boy/Child) AKA "Pausteen Fawn (The)", with parts reversed. The first strain corresponds with the second strain of "“An Páistín Fionn”, but the second strain has few similarities with the older tune. It has also been called by the names of influential players from whom other musicians learned it: "Joe Burke's Jig (2)" "John Dwyer's," "Finbarr Dwyer's Favorite," "Kennedy's," "McGreevy's," etc.
