SWEET SIXTEEN [1]. American, Reel. Widely known in central eastern states. It has been pointed out that the tune resembles the Irish song “As I Roved Out” and the tune “O'Keeffe’s Slide.” The tune derives, however, from the Scots tune “My Love is But a Lassie Yet,” although the title may derive from the song “Sixteen Come Next Sunday.” The tune was the repertories of Buffalo Valley, Pa., region dance fiddlers Harry Daddario and Archie Miller.
