THOMOND BRIDGE.   AKA and see "Cuckoo (Hornpipe) (7) (The)," "Lady Hartwell of Cantwell Clog." Irish, Hornpipe (whole time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. In 1210 King John of England visited the city of Limerick in occupied Ireland and made provisions for the building of a strong castle and a bridge across the Shannon River. The Castle remains to this day but the bridge was replaced in 1838 by the present Thomond Bridge.

A version of the hornpipe was printed by O'Neill as "Cuckoo (Hornpipe) (7) (The)." Cape Breton fiddler and composer Dan R. MacDonald recorded a version as "Lady Hartwell of Cantwell Clog."
