THRESHERS [4], THE. English, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. The melody was printed in London publishers Charles and Samuel Thompson’s 1765 country dance collection. A version of the tune was entered into Northumbrian musician William Vickers' c. 1770 music manuscript collection as "Thrashers (The)" where the first two parts of Vickers' four-part tune correspond to parts two and three of the Thompsons' tune. Vickers' third and fourth parts are different.
