THROWIN' SOAPSUDS IN THE CORNER OF THE FENCE. American, Reel (cut time). USA, Mississippi. D Major. ADae tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune was recorded in May, 1939, at the Meridian Civic Centre, Meridian, Lauderdale County, Mississippi, by Library of Congress field collector Herbert Halpert from the playing of Stephen B. Tucker. The coarse phrase is reminiscent of the third strain of "Rabbit in the Pea Patch (1)." While the title is similar to the several "Soapsuds over the Fence" tunes (and similar title--there are many variants of the name), the tune is dissimilar to other versions (many of which have ontly the title in common).
