TOM RAE'S REEL. Canadian, Reel (2/4 time). Canada, Cape Breton. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Tom Rae" was composed by Inverness, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, fiddler-composer biography:Dan R. MacDonald (1911-1976), and is one of the best-known reels by the prolific MacDonald, frequently recorded. Modern versions modulate to A Mixoldyian for the second strain.
