TWILIGHT IN PORTROE. AKA and see "Dawn (2) (The)," “Michael Reilly's Reel,” “Seán Ryan's Dream.” Irish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB’. "Twilight in Portroe" was Nenagh, Tipperary, fiddler Seán Ryan’s (d. 1985) title for the tune. It was mistakenly listed as “Dawn (2) (The)” on De Danann’s album “Mist Covered Mountain,” however, due to the popularity and influence of that recording (and by the fact that the first strains of both tunes are quite similar) Ryan's reel is nowadays often referred to by that title. As “Michael Reilly's,” the tune is set in the key of ‘G’.
