UP AND DOWN THE STAIRS (Suas agus Síos an Staighre). AKA and see "Puddle the Butter," "Trip it up Stairs (1)." Irish, Slide (12/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Jackie Small, editor of Ceol Rince na hÉireann vol. V, says this tune “is an example of the great store of old Leinster single jigs that (Kilmurry) had.” A version from the music manuscript of the Crawhall family set for the Northumbrian small-pipes was printed as "Puddle the Butter" by collector Cecil Sharp.
