Sheet Music for "Up in the Air [1]"Up in the Air [1]Book: Alexander Stuart – “Musick for Allan Ramsay’s Collection part 6”(Edinburgh, c. 1724, pp. 146-147)Transcription: AK/Fiddler’s Companion

UP IN THE AIR [1]. Scottish, Air (cut time). A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Ostensibly a convivial song (from the last stanza), but the first stanza of Allan Ramsay's words (below) is nightmarish.

Now the Sun’s gane out o’ Sight,
Beet the Ingle, and snuff the Light:
In Glens the Fairies skip and dance,
And Witches wallop o’er to France
Up in the Air
On my bonny grey Mare,
And I see her yet, and I see her yet,
Up in, &c.
