VANISHING LEPRECHAUN, THE. Irish, Double Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The Vanishing Leprechaun is optical game that appeared in the serial 'Mathematical Games' by Martin Gardner in Scientific American of November, 1971. The rights to the design are owned by Pat Lyons and registered as such in both the U.S. and Canada. It was designed by Ms. Pat (Patterson) Lyons circa 1968 and is related to the DeLand Paradox. When the puzzle is arranged in a certain way, fifteen leprechauns are present. After moving the pieces again, one of the leprechauns seems to vanish.
